My Own Spirituality and Beliefs
I am part of several online groups for recovery.
A few focus mainly on just Higher Power, and a couple have areas
that focus on specific Higher Powers.
Well the one area focuses on hymns even and the history of them.
I was sharing there of One Hymn That Truly touched me and in my
mind I could see me doing all the things I did when I last heard this
hymn. It Is Well With My Soul
I was standing up and I stretched my hands and arms up to God and
sang loudly and boldly with tears streaming down my face because
I finally understood with The God of My Understanding
It Truly is Well With My Soul- Very healing for me.
The next song I listened to I stopped everything and found I was again
raising my arms and hands to The God of My understanding and I felt peace.
The name of That Song was Welcome Holy Spirit and theres part that says
come and live inside of me.
These songs are very freeing for me and part of my recovery today.
They bring me to conscious contact and what I believe is The Holy Spirit.
I do not shove that down anyone else's throat but it has made such an impact
upon my life. I couldnt resist sharing it.

Sounds like you're going through something very authentic. I've always found that connection between recovery and spirituality interesting - it's such a strong one, I suppose in part because it's been made into a lasting institution through AA and it's spinoffs.
But as I understand it, the founder of AA went through something similar himself, and that's what led him to start AA to begin with.
